Issues
South Jordan has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report and USA TODAY as the best place to live in Utah and among the top 75 places in the nation. To maintain this status, it's essential that we tackle the challenges we face head-on. I am dedicated to addressing these issues now, rather than postponing them for future city councils to resolve. Together, we can ensure that South Jordan remains a fantastic place to call home.

Growth
As South Jordan continues to grow rapidly, it is crucial our city grows with vision and purpose. City leaders need to make certain growth enhances and strengthens our community.
• As a member of Utah League of Cities and Towns Legislative Policy Committee, I work to ensure: • State legislation does not infringe upon local control. • That South Jordan is positively recognized for doing its part to allow for a variety of housing types. • As a member of the General Master Plan committee, I promoted wise growth that will continue to make South Jordan a place where people want to live, work, and play. • As your city council member, I continue to work hard to make certain that land is developed in a way that strengthens and enhances our city. • It is imperative that the city grows according to the needs and best interests of all residents. As your representative, I will continue to work to preserve established neighborhoods by requiring developers to develop the land in harmony with already established communities.

Parks, Trails, and
Open Space
South Jordan’s land is a limited resource. We need to continue to provide and preserve quality parks, trails, and open spaces.
• I served on the Parks and Recreation Master Plan committee. • I have ensured all new master plan communities include parks, trails, and open space in their designs. • I voted to create the Bingham Creek Regional Park Authority, which allows South Jordan and its residents to have a voice in the operations and development of the Bingham Creek Regional Park. • I will continue to work to preserve and improve destinations, like Mulligan’s and the Jordan River Trail system, which make our city a great place to live.

Taxes
South Jordan is a thriving city. With our continued growth, I will make certain taxes paid by residents are fair for the services rendered and that tax dollars are spent efficiently and wisely.

I will also work to ensure that the city has the resources it needs to continue to maintain our great city.

Safety
Having a safe city to live in makes for a better quality of life. Safe cities, like South Jordan, are defined by well-equipped fire and police stations, a sufficient number of public safety personnel, and the community looking out for one another by reporting issues to ensure they are promptly resolved.
• I worked with residents to improve safety conditions at Sunrise Mountain Park. • I supported the creation of Community Service Officers to strengthen community safety in non-emergency situations. • I voted to fund the building of Station 64 (the fire/police station on Lake Ave). This has decreased our first responder’s response times to emergencies throughout the city. • I will continue to work with all the city’s first responders to make certain they have the adequate staff and equipment they need to keep our city safe.

Community
Enhancement
I believe that strong communities make great cities. Our communities are enhanced when we have great city events and activities, when we have access to art and music, when we have recreational opportunities, and great public spaces.
• I have been a champion for arts programing in our city. • As the City Council liaison to the South Jordan Arts Council: • I advocated to bring community theater back to South Jordan in 2019 and have overseen the arts council expanding the community theater program to offer two shows a year. • I have championed for new murals and utility box wraps through the city. • I participated in the creation of the first South Jordan Arts Master Plan. • I voted to save Glenmoor Golf Course, one of our city’s recreational gems, without the use of taxpayer money. • I have supported the improvements to the Gale Museum to preserve South Jordan’s history. • I will continue to look for ways to strengthen and enhance our communities.

The topics listed on this page are the ones I frequently receive questions about.
If there's a specific issue in the city you'd like my thoughts on, feel free to call, text, or email me, and let's start a conversation.

Economic
Development
A key to building great communities is providing places for residents to shop and work close to home, this makes South Jordan’s commercial land a critical resource to the city’s growth.
• I will continue to encourage commercial development that will provide great jobs for our residents and enhance our quality of life. • I will continue to work with developers to create economic centers that are regional destinations that will increase our sales tax base. • As the city continues to welcome new economic centers, I will work with business owners and developers to ensure no area of the city suffers from economic blight. • I worked with Empowered Markets to help them keep their Daybreak Farmers Market on SoDa Row in the Daybreak community.

Transportation
Everyone in the city benefits from an effective transportation system, whether it’s having a transportation system that allows for a smooth commute or allows businesses to move products efficiently.
• I supported the below grade placement of Bangerter Highway at 10400 South and 9800 South interchanges. • I supported the creation of the new Trax Station in South Jordan’s Downtown Daybreak. • I will continue to support the completion of the Mountain View Corridor and its conversion to a full freeway. • I will continue to support active transportation plans, like the Shields Lane (9800 South) Corridor Improvements. • I will continue to advocate UTA to improve transit routes in South Jordan.
• I have supported lobbying efforts for the city to receive additional State and Federal Funds. • I supported the creation of a Grants and Sponsorship Coordinator to solicit additional funding for programs.
